February 1-7th is Children's Mental Health Week and many of us will have experienced first hand the impact that the pandemic is having on young people. We want to raise money so we can support children in our community during the Covid Pandemic by offering wellbeing workshops to local schools and youth groups as well as funded places at our boxing club to children that need it.
Members of our boxing academy will complete 24 hours of continuous exercise from boxing to circuits to yoga to dancing in the club’s ‘Zoom Room’ starting at 10am on Saturday 6th February.
A £5 donation will fund one child to take part in a session. We are hoping to raise £240 - £10 for every hour we are exercising - to enable us to deliver more workshops and sessions to local schools and youth groups.
This fundraising effort has been in response to some workshops we delivered to a local school at the end of 2020. Northern Powerhouse Boxing Academy was recently awarded funding from the Social Enterprise Support Fund, distributed by UnLtd to deliver their “Strong Body Strong Mind” workshops to the Year 6 pupils at Old Town School in Hebden Bridge. The aim of these workshops was to help support the Year 6 children who had been struggling to regain balance in their wellbeing since returning to school after the initial lockdown in 2020.
Having seen how our workshops can help local children, we wanted to tie in with Children’s Mental Health Week to raise funds to help us continue this work in the community.
Plus we’ve been delivering classes on zoom since March now so it feels quite normal for us to use zoom for this challenge!
We would be very grateful to anyone who can help us in our fundraising mission.
