Join the team as our Welfare Director

NPBA is looking to fill a newly created position of Welfare Director to join our Board of Directors.

As Welfare Director, you will fulfil the important role
of supporting our Welfare Officers to ensure the wellbeing of the young people who attend NPBA.

The Welfare Director will help to ensure a safe and inclusive environment is achieved not only for our young people and members but also for our staff and coaches. The role provides an opportunity to engage with your local community whilst helping to lead a progressive social enterprise.  


About NPBA:
Northern Powerhouse is the first women-led boxing club in the UK, with a goal of providing opportunities to participate in boxing either as an amateur sport or to improve physical and mental wellbeing. We prioritise our services to women and girls, but we have no gender requirements for participation, offering a safe environment, free from stereotypes and expectations.

Remuneration: 
The role of Welfare Director is not accompanied by any financial remuneration.

Time commitment:
Six - eight Board meetings per year. The Welfare Director is also expected to liaise with other Board members, staff and volunteers in between board meetings. Approximately 4-8 hours per month.


Background:
A general background in Safeguarding/HR would be especially welcomed.  We require a professional, friendly, approachable person who is experienced in taking the lead in important matters that require discretion and care to guide them to a resolution. 


Responsibilities:
As Welfare Director you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Child Welfare Officer and Deputy Child Welfare Officer in their roles.
  • Working with others in the club to promote safeguarding, diversity and inclusion.
  • Working with the Child Welfare Officer to ensure our Safeguarding Policy is visible, adhered to, and that appropriate action is taken when needed.
  • Supporting staff and coaches with HR concerns, working with the Board of Directors to resolve HR matters.
  • Ensuring safeguarding, HR, diversity and inclusion is on the agenda at board meetings.
  • Taking an interest in all aspects of the organisation, and supporting staff and ensuring volunteers are fully supported in their work
