Youth

Our boxing and fitness class are always popular, offering a supportive environment where young people can be active with friends without pressure or judgement. We offer a different culture, focused on fun, belonging and personal growth. If someone wants to continue their journey and one day step into the ring, we will support them in this also.

Learning to box can help young people both physically and mentally. Our classes improve cardiovascular fitness, whole-body strength, build confidence and self esteem. These classes are suitable for any level of skill or fitness. We welcome all children and do our best to accommodate individual needs.

Any children and young people who are on free school meals can access free boxing sessions. This is to help children and young people keep active especially through the cost-of-living crisis.

Only £5 per class with discounts available if you book for the term.
Siblings receive a 50% discount.

September 2025 - Kids & Youth Sessions

WHAT TO EXPECT: KIDS 7-11 yrs (Monday 4pm)
This is a fun, non-contact class using boxing-based drills, activities and games to introduce children to the sport. It’s a glove-contact only session – meaning they’ll hit bags, pads or gloves, but never each other.

  • 40 minutes of fun-filled, physical activity
  • Develop basic proficiency in punching and moving
  • Build self confidence
  • Get active and learn a new skill
  • Socialise with other children and make new friends

We want our classes to be as inclusive as possible for all children, including those who are neurodiverse. If your child learns in a particular way or has specific needs, please chat to us – we’ll do our best to make sure they feel comfortable, supported and able to get the most out of the session.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Youth Hang Outs (Secondary School age only)
On Wednesday and Thursday we offer the club as a space for young people to hang out. It is free to attend, no booking needed – just turn up. Girls are on a Wednesday and boys are on a Thursday. We have at least two Youth Workers on hand to support those that attend. Please note, this is not a coached session – the aim is simply to create more safe, welcoming spaces for young people to hang out in Hebden Bridge.

WHAT TO EXPECT:  Boxing
YOUTH - Monday 5pm
GIRLS - Wednesday 5pm
BOYS - Thursday 5pm

Our boxing sessions for young people are fun and supportive, using boxing to help build new skills, improve overall strength, and boost confidence and self-esteem.
Designed for secondary school-aged children, our inclusive classes are open to all levels. This is a glove-contact session - you’ll hit bags, pads, or gloves, but never each other.

A note on girls’ and boys’ sessions
Everyone’s welcome at NPBA. Some of our hangouts and coached sessions are run as girls’ or boys’ sessions, but if you’re trans or non-binary you can come to whichever day feels right for you. We also run a dedicated Trans/Non-Binary session on Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm, which is free and open to anyone aged 14+.
