NPBA is looking for a voluntary chairperson to lead our Board of Directors. As chair, you will play a significant role in supporting and developing a respected Community Interest Company, based between Hebden Bridge and Todmorden. The role provides an opportunity to engage with your local community whilst helping to lead a progressive social enterprise.
About NPBA:
Northern Powerhouse is the first women-led boxing club in the UK, with a goal of providing opportunities to participate in boxing either as an amateur sport or to improve physical and mental wellbeing. We prioritise our services to women and girls, but we have no gender requirements for participation, offering a safe environment, free from stereotypes and expectations.
Time commitment & remuneration::
Six - eight board meetings per year. The Chair is also expected to be in regular contact with the General Manager and liaise with other Board members, staff and volunteers in between board meetings. Approximately 10 hours per month. The role of Chair is not accompanied by any financial remuneration.
Background:
Previous experience as a Chair or trustee of a charity / CIC / Not for profit would be welcomed. A general background in strategy / governance / business development at Board level would also be desirable. We require someone who is experienced in taking the lead in personal or professional settings and enjoys managing small groups of people in order to develop supportive community activities. You need to be a great communicator, have good organisational and IT skills.
